About

I’m Nguyen Minh Khoa, an AI engineer and Research Assistant at AiTA Lab, FPT University.

My recent work includes handwritten mathematical expression recognition and text-to-molecule generation. I work across data preparation, model experiments, and inference integration, with a preference for research ideas that can be tested in working software.

My current focus is AI for intelligent manufacturing. I look for work that gives equal weight to careful experiments and hands-on implementation.

I’m open to AI engineering, research engineering, and applied machine-learning collaborations.

LexiChem

A workspace for designing molecules from text

Completed

LexiChem starts from a natural-language description of a molecule, generates candidate structures, and checks them with RDKit for 2D/3D exploration. I built the data pipeline, ran model experiments and ablations, and brought inference into the product.

Factory overview from the repeatable local demo.

NexOps

Local-first MES and SCADA platform for shop-floor operations

Working investment/demo prototype

NexOps provides a local operational workspace uniting machine telemetry, production schedules, alarms, and shift OEE. As AI, Simulation & Platform Lead, I design repeatable factory simulations and lead the software runtime that streams live telemetry into operator dashboards.

Mask CoMER: Enhancing Handwritten Mathematical Expression Recognition with Masked Language Pretraining and Regularization

Nam Van Hai Phan, Khoa Minh Nguyen, Trung Thanh Nguyen, Trung Thanh Pham, Phuong-Nam Tran, Duc Ngoc Minh Dang

International Conference on Document Analysis and Recognition

Co-author

Masked-language pretraining and stochastic-depth regularization for HMER, achieving up to +5 ExpRate points over CoMER on CROHME.

Abstract

Excerpt from the abstract

We propose Mask CoMER, a two-stage training approach that combines a novel Masked Language Model Pretraining objective with stochastic depth regularization.
